About the educational institution

The Catholic University is a young institution of higher education; over the 20 years of its activity, the university has trained more than 33,000 graduates in full-time and part-time bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. KU offers students the opportunity to study in four faculties: pedagogy, philosophy, theology and health care. The university carries out teaching and scientific activities mainly in the field of humanities, pedagogy, natural, social and medical sciences, as well as in the fields of art, economics and management. 

Since its establishment, the university has successfully participated in the international program of higher education institutions under the Erasmus+ program. Many foreign students choose Catholic University due to its relaxed student life, interesting studies, and incredibly beautiful nature.

The Faculty of Education is the third best pedagogical faculty in Slovakia. The faculty is in demand among foreign students, especially from the CIS countries. The PF trains future teachers, social workers, philologists, artists, managers, etc. The student also has the opportunity to study disciplines in combination with the Faculty of Philosophy, for example, Italian and English. Higher education at PF KU is based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), which ensures compatibility with leading educational institutions and ensures student mobility between universities throughout the European Union.

Introductory campaign

The main condition for admission to the 1st level (bachelor) is the presence of complete general secondary education or complete secondary vocational education.

Admission without entrance exams*

*In the specialty “Fine Arts”, “Music Education”, “Musical Art” and “Physical Education” a talent exam is conducted.

A motivational interview is conducted for all specialties: the applicant presents his ideas and expectations from studying at the faculty and his commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and faculty.

The Faculty of Philosophy is one of the best faculties in the field of humanities education in Slovakia, as evidenced by positive ratings from the accreditation commission. When applying to majors related to the Slovak language and literature, you must provide a certificate of language proficiency at a minimum level of B2.

Exams:

English Studies and American Studies and Teaching English Language and Literature in combination: an interview in English is focused on determining the applicant’s knowledge of the cultural and social history of English-speaking countries, personal and motivational prerequisites for studying.

Psychology: a written test on knowledge of human biology, the basics of psychology, the potential for intelligence and creativity, knowledge of the English language (understanding of professional text) and an interview to determine the personal and motivational abilities, social, cultural and professional views of the applicant.

Journalism: the interview is focused on the motivation and performance of the applicant (when submitting an admission application, you must attach two samples of text creation - the results of previous journalistic activity or some other text).

Faculty
health

The Faculty of Health is the youngest faculty of the Catholic University of Ružomberka. Students do a lot of practice at a local hospital, which is equipped with modern equipment. The faculty includes the Department of Nursing, Emergency Medicine, Public Health, Physiotherapy, Laboratory Techniques and the Department of Radiological Technology. The cultural, scientific and educational life of students is based on humanistic and Christian principles.

The Faculty of Theology strives to thoroughly understand Catholic teaching and systematically explain it. Students learn to find solutions to human problems. In the future, graduates can work in church schools and Catholic churches.
