About the educational institution
The Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra is a leading educational and scientific institution whose main objective is to provide higher education and creative scientific research in the direction of Slovak agriculture and rural development. In its six faculties, the university provides free education in the field of agriculture and related scientific fields, such as agrobiology, food resources, biotechnology, food technology, engineering production of agricultural machinery and equipment, horticulture, etc.

In its curriculum, the Faculty includes disciplines that are based primarily on the field of agrobiology and interdisciplinary scientific fields between natural and agricultural sciences. At the faculty, students study original and unique specialties. The Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources is one of the only faculties in Slovakia that provides higher education in this area.

The main condition for admission to the 1st level of study (bachelor's degree) is the possession of a complete general secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education.
Additional conditions:
Applicants to the Hippology program must demonstrate to the admissions committee theoretical and practical skills in basic horse handling.

For the specialty "Hippology", a medical certificate of suitability for studying at the university and performing professional duties is required.
International applicants are required to take an online test and an online interview in Slovak, conducted by the SPU Language Centre in Nitra (cost: €30). Based on the results, they receive a certificate of language proficiency based on the CEFR scale.
If the level is below A1, the applicant will not be accepted.
Level A1 means enrolment with a mandatory paid 30-hour Slovak language course (120 EUR).
Level A2 or above is considered sufficient to meet the language requirement for entry.

The objective of the faculty is to educate and train qualified specialists who have the latest knowledge of biological, chemical, technological and economic sciences, focused on modern processes of production, evaluation and processing of food products. FACULTY OF POLITICAL SCIENCES AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS is the only faculty in Slovakia with an exclusive focus in the field of political science. The main condition for admission to the 1st level of study (bachelor's degree) is the possession of a complete general secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education.
Additional conditions:
Entrance examinations may be waived for applicants with an average grade of up to 1.7 for certain years of study, as well as for those who scored at least the 50th percentile in the General Academic Prerequisites (VŠP) test.
If an applicant does not meet the admission requirements without entrance exams, they must take written tests in two selected subjects. Applicants may choose from three subjects:
economics, mathematics, foreign language (English, German or Russian).
Subject combinations for the entrance exam may vary depending on the chosen specialty. A state language exam (general or vocational) may be used instead of a foreign language test.

The educational direction of the faculty is focused on training specialists for integrated regional development, natural resource management, economics and rural tourism management. The main focus of the faculty is on training specialists focused on horticulture, fruit growing, viticulture, winemaking, vegetable growing, floriculture, design of garden and park modifications, architectural projects of public, protected and recreational premises, restoration and maintenance of greenery, protection of water and air, waste management, construction and rural renewal.

The Landscape and Garden Architecture program requires a creative entrance exam. The exam consists of three parts:
drawing of a plant object (90 minutes);
compositional and graphic task on the interpretation of text or image in 2D format (120 minutes);
personal interview about motivation and previous experience.
The exam is held over one or more days, depending on the number of registered candidates, usually at the end of April.

For the Landscape Engineering and Horticulture programs, an in-person interview is conducted. This interview is not intended to test applicants' knowledge, but rather to determine their readiness for the chosen educational program.
Faculty of Technology
Since its creation, the faculty has trained almost 10,000 graduates for practice, who have made a significant contribution to the technical development of not only agricultural primary production, processing of agricultural products and the creation of new equipment, and to the improvement of activities in the automotive industry. The main mission of the faculty is to train technical managers and technical production and operational engineers who are able to apply their education in a competitive environment in the labor market.
