About the educational institution

Matej Bel University is a member of the European University Association, which offers classical European education at all three levels of study in the fields of pedagogical, social, economic, legal, political, humanities and natural sciences, international relations, economics and mathematics.

Introductory campaign

The main requirement for admission to the 1st level (bachelor) is a complete general secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education. The entrance exam includes written tests in one foreign language and the basics of economics. The exam can be replaced by passing the SCIO test on general prerequisites for learning at least at 50 percentiles.
. It is also necessary to provide a certified copy of the certificate of knowledge of the Slovak language at level B1 according to common European standards no later than 30.04.2025, in paper form (the electronic version is not enough)!

Exams:

— written test in one foreign language (English or German) and basic economics

If you choose the specialty “Economics and Business Management in English,” the exams will be in English.

Introductory campaign

The main requirement for admission to the 1st level (bachelor) is complete general secondary education or complete secondary vocational education. A certificate of knowledge of the Slovak language at level B2 is required.
The entrance examination for full-time bachelor's degree studies is conducted in the form of a written examination, which tests the knowledge at the secondary school level in the subjects of history (Slovak and world history), philosophy, the study of society, including the basics of law, the basics of sociology, psychology and economics, political and cultural overview, knowledge of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic, as well as the logical thinking of the applicant.

Introductory campaign

The main condition for admission to the 1st level (bachelor) is the presence of complete general secondary education or complete secondary vocational education.

Admission without entrance exams, if the grades for the last 4 years of study are not higher than 1.5 in the Slovak equivalent, or if the SCIO test on general prerequisites for learning has been passed with at least the 50th percentile.
You also need to provide a certificate of knowledge of Slovak at level B1.

Exams:

– A written test, which consists of two parts: 60 questions on knowledge of such disciplines as political science, history, sociology, economic theory, law, cultural studies, current issues of domestic and foreign policy (specialty “Political Science”) and political science, history, international relations, geography, cultural studies, economic theory, current issues of domestic and foreign policy (specialty “International Relations”).

– 20 questions on language knowledge (English, German, French, Russian, Spanish) to choose from: Political Science – 1 language, International Relations – 2 languages.

The main condition for admission to the 1st level (bachelor) is the presence of complete general secondary education or complete secondary vocational education.

Knowledge of the Slovak language at level B2 is required – either through an ECL certificate or a certificate from a language school listed by the Ministry of Education. For foreign applicants, knowledge of the Slovak language can be tested by a test and/or interview in the Slovak language.

Examinations: entrance examinations are held for each specialty, which can be written or oral (interview). For some specialties, a creativity test is conducted before the written exam.

The Faculty of Philosophy prepares qualified teaching specialists with the latest knowledge and practical experience. In cooperation with foreign embassies of Slovakia, native speakers teach foreign languages at the faculty. The Faculty of Philosophy also cooperates with translation agencies, foreign embassies, media, sports clubs, etc. Students can continue their studies abroad under Erasmus and other programs to gain the necessary knowledge and experience.
